Good Morning

Lynles - thank you so much for your offer. We are in Audenshaw (near Ashton) Im going to manage this time I think without extra storage - but really appreciate all the ideas everyone has come up with.

What a great bunch of people!!

i dont understand why people take so much gear for just a couple of days,we go to a couple of bluegrass festiavals, which last 4 days but we only take the least we can,but when we go for 2 weeks thats different,we take the trailer the roof box and whatever else we can, just to make life comfortable,I just think if you are going for two days it must take you 6 hours putting up and taking down.take just what you need in basics and enjoy your weekend

I'm amazed that stuff won't go in a Zafira - it seems like a small list to me.

We used to get:

1 x 3 man tent, 2 x extra groundsheets, spare pegs and tools, bag of crockery & cutlery, bag of pans, 2 x sleeping bags (a single and a double), 1 x fleece blanket, 2 x rollmats, 2 x folding chairs, 1 x folding table, 2 x single burner stoves with fuel, 1 x battery lantern, 1 x coolbag, 1 x box of food, 2 x bags clothes, 1 x bag for dog's stuff and sundry bits and bobs (towels, loo roll etc.)

into the boot of a Megane with no folding down of the back seats. The dog/dogs had the back seat with all their bedding on there.

We now have a Berlingo so we're hopingt o get a bigger tent and a kitchen stand - all else will remain the same I suspect.

It's all to do with organisation and taking time packing it properly, we got 2 adult's, 2 children,4 holdall bags, shoes, camping stove, saucepan, coats, folding chairs, folding table, sleepingbags and a 4 man tent in a fiat panda, the girl's sit on the pillows.  I have got a picture of how much we got in the panda but I am not sure how to upload the picture, when we take the big khyam then we use our small erde trailer.

If you haven't already, buy stuff sacks for all of the bedding and straps for things like airbeds. I was surprised how small I managed to get everything. My next purchace is going to be micro towels.

I go camping on my own and started out being able to pack everything onto a push-bike and trailer. I now have a 3 door Land Rover Discovery, (like me, a bit rough around the edges, but still serviceable) and it's packed to the rafters with all the extra gear I've accumulated to fit the space available, I've even had to drop the 40% rear seat so I can fit the Porta-Potti in!
