About a seven for our longer stays?

We take:

Large dome tent
Four season sleeping bags, decent foil camping mats, and ariks as well
Cadac and a double gas hob
A big camping fridge
EHU
Electric Heater
Wardrobe/sideboard thingy

If the car/trailer had some room then I'd look at carpet for the tent bedrooms, an inflatable sofa and loungers to go with the normal chairs that we already take.

I will balance this out with saying that I'm currently amassing the bits and pieces to take the family lightweight camping next year.

Prob is we dont have roofrack/box or trailer, all we will have is our space in the boot of our previa!

I remember when we went camping the 2 of us, the whole of the car was jam packed with stuff, how the heck will we manage with 3 kids too

2 years ago I still had my Zafira, could get everything in there no problem, just downsizing to our 'project' car has been difficult with basics like just doing shopping  lol

should put pic of it up on here!

When we used to go as a family when i was a kid i'd say we were about 2 on that scale, we had an old canvas scout tent and sleeping bags (no roll mats or anything) and a single burner stove that mum cooked everything on for us with 4 kids.   Now me and hubby go and we're about 6.

I have a 6 man tent (2 of us), airbed, plenty of things to keep us warm including sleeping bag and kingsize duvet and pillows.  Double stove with grill and deluxe camp kitchen larder type thing, camping table, chairs.  We don't have ehu tho, and so no tv, electric lights, etc and we don't have a toilet or anything.  We do have a roofbox that hels fit all my clothes in and if it was up to me we would have fridge, ehu, electric kettle, toilet etc, but we only have a little car and it won't all fit in!

We started off with very little, just a tent and a small one ring gas stove. I remembered from my time as a kid camping that bed time would be a nightmare if you are cold so the only luxery item we had was a blow up mattress.

Things have moved on since then and we are a little older now (30) and we have a table and chairs, double gas stove. But I think we still enjoy the basics, what is the point going camping if it is just a home from home? I would rate us a 5.

We started out as 2-3 many moons ago but as the years rolled on we 'upgraded' and now I suppose we are an 8. Large tent, EHU, airbed, table & chairs, electric cool box, kettle, camp kitchen and two ring stove. I also bring the dishwasher, well I need him to put the tent up. We have only got one thing from Valk's list and that is a travel iron I got free with something and I only used it once two years ago.

lol same here !!!!! Useful for other things too but can't think of any, oh no nearly forgot he does the driving !!

Ah well, would be about a 6/7.........huge tent (sleeps 7 but with me, OH and 5yo)... trust me space is an issue when weather bad and child wishes to play.  EHU, light, heat, table and camp chairs..... coffee courtesy of whistling kettle and cafetiere... will prob take laptop next time to entertain both OH/kid at night.

Want as many luxuries as poss as camping on B/Hol weekend disaster with seriously leaky tent (went back to mfr Sat) and no fun things to do except freeze butt off and get wet.

Sorry if offends back to basics campers!!!

We do two week holidays in a Passat estate and we can still pull over the cargo cover. No roofbox. Tent, four self inflatables, two kids' sleeping bags, our duvet and base sheet, stove, gas, minimal pans and crockery, coolbox and two ice blocks (OK, we camp near shops!), lantern, clothing and sponge bag.
..... What does that make us? 3 to 4?

We are basically you plus a table and 4 folding chairs in a Citroen ! And I was going to mark us down as a 6 ......

Very basic I guess - I bought a stove (haven't used it yet) and that seemed like the height of luxury! I guess a 3? as we have inflatable beds and sleeping bags.....although we have also just used mats when we can't be bothered to pump.

Oh probably an 8 or 9.

Huge tent, all EHU including tv & dvd player, loads of furniture and carpet for the floor. All squeezed into a Volvo V70 plus trailer.

If I buy a 'WASH N' GO' portable sink, we'll have everything and need never leave the tent at all.

Having said that, I've just been down to the local car auctions to look for a bigger car.

Id probably be an 8 because i dont have a loo or a carpet but i do use lots of picnic rugs though. Everything is on ehu except the cadac and a stove and a rechargable lantern(have a lamp too).
