Having tried many types of cat litter with our rabbit, the wood based stuff is definately the best smell wise as it just tends to smell of pine. You can compost it (we do) as the wood is biodegradable and the urine acts to speed up the process. Garderners often advise to apply directly to the heap! Even if you put it in the bin, you have the reassurance of knowing that it disintergrates quickly. It doesn't need a huge amount so I'd suggest buying a bag and taking a smaller bag with you.
