Abbyyorks that was hilarious.... We have left food out but usually put a lid or plate over the food that's left.
touch wood we haven't had night visitors but maybe that's only cause I've probably slept through the noise.
I am a bit of a stickler for the 'bin' though and spillages as that seems to attract wasps and I cannot stand them. My kids knew from an early age to tie 'knot' in the handles of the plastic bag 'bin' and that if they split anything it had to be swilled away.
I have known friends of mine that are not that particular with their children and my kids ended up being stung by wasps just whilst waiting by their trailer tent!!!!
yep totally agree, now we go with huge trailer full of 'necessities' but this was in those heady days when we could chuck little tent and larger in boot of Ford Ka and off we went. Wasn't such a stickler for getting washed up in those days...too much else to
To the best of my knowledge the only time have had anybody enter my tent was the day I had gone out and forgotten to zip it up. When I got back chap in the caravan opposite came and told me that he had spotted the car missing, and the zip up, so with the help of the chap in the next van, and checked that the tent was empty and rezipped it for me. He knew that I was on my own with two kids (then 3 and just 6) and thought that it was odds on that I had simply forgotten, but wanted to check just in case. Nice to know that people do look out for you when camping.
Ive also had the missus nudge' wake up theres an axe murderer outside!'
Sleeping bag zip stuck so i bounced out.......head first straight into the hanging light bar in the centre of our tent, fell back onto the airbed....which deflated and finally managed to crawl out ready to fight the world!
To find.........Nothing!..... to be honest if Freddie Kruger had been there he would have died laughing by the time i arrived!
Did once have one of the kids wake me in the middle of the night to tell me a man had been staring through the window, now that scared the Sh*t out of me!

Camping in Wales (in the glorious pre-children days) I woke up to a really strange noise which I obviously thought was some kind of wild-boar or a crazed psycho as you do. Woke up husband in panic and he then spent (I kid you not) 10 minutes trying to get out through the double zips, cursing all the time. He eventually stuck his head through a tiny gap he'd managed to make (wouldn't it be a bad position to be in with a tent psycho, your head exposed and your body trapped in the bedroom?) to discover it was a giant hedgehog sitting in the frying pan eating our sausages.
Husband then grunts and rolls over and i'm saying get up and put it out so he spends ten minutes shoving it with foot under tiny gap of tent side because he couldn't be bothered to unpeg it...happy days!
I think i've stayed at the same site as you many years ago. The first night we were there we heard 'that' noise. My OH stuck his head out into the porch to find a hedgehog eating our breakfast croissants. I wouldn't have mind so much but he had cr*pped on anything he hadn't eaten, so the whole lot had to be binned!
The following morning we saw the signs around the site telling us to lock everything away or it would be munched by the hedgepigs! Doh!
We found a stranger sleeping in our car . When we woke him , he didn't have a clue where he was or how he'd got there . It was obviously a good night out !
we locked our tent once at the V festival, said that people would see if anyone slashed it, but to be honest there wasn't really anything valuable in it!
We never lock it normally though, we hope other people will leave our stuff as we would theirs, plus anything valuable is taken out with us.
