At Holmsley recently there were people driving from their pitch to the lavatory block and back, one guy even had a boot full of washing up with kids being taught to drive and car stereos used as mobile discos.

I would use your car free camp site Merry. Stick me down for one weekend a month and two weeks in August

Yes I've seen people driving to the bog (lazy gits) & Use of car radios on site is one of my pet hates. So your idea does have its positive side for me too. 

if the cost oif the pitch includes space for car i will use it after all ive paid for it

as for the wind breaks our youngest is a pain in the buttocks and runns around looking behind him

so i wind break off an area outside side door of tent for cooking bbq etc so i can keep him away from cooker

i dont realy care what other campers views are on windbreaks to be totaly honest, i dont like to see old fogies varicouse veins in shorts at 6am but i see them all the time  

its as much our holiday as theirs we have all paid the same and if their only problem is their view is obscured by a windbreak then they need to get a life, i have to listen to bbc radio 2 all the time onsite do i complain??? nope if they dont want to see my windbreak they can close their eyes or look at the sky, i cant close my ears there is a difference

FWIW, reading this I thought that it was going to turn into another 'let's have a go at the kids' thread. But it didn't, it turned into a 'different stokes for different folks' thread.

We have a car, if we can we park it next to the tent, we do, if we can't, we don't. I like camping not car-ing. camping for me is to get away from the day to day with my family. One of the downsides is other campers and thier behavior. One of the upsides is other campers and thier behavior. Camping is no different from any other human activity.

in response to CHILE i agree with you park there if ya can, if there was a car park designated at the end of the same field then great. it sounds a good idea to drop stuff off and then park at the end of the field, once unloaded i dont really need the car so why sit and stare at it? in my humble opinion most campers ive met are good people (usually) although last time we went camping we pitched next to a young chave who needed to start his car every hour or so (to see if half the exhaust was still missing by the sounds of it) but apart from that they were sound. an empty field would be even better for the kids as nowadays i dare not let the kids run around in the street as i once did, but a large empty field where i can see and keep my eye on them from a distance is fabulous and the kids enjoy it 100% "there little freedom i guess"

its all each to their own i suppose.

I like my car on my pitch. I use it for lots of different stuff when I am campin and would find it a pain in the bum if I had to wlak to a car park to get bits and bobs etc.

I do tend to look at site rules and some do stipulate no transits and 2nd cars to be parked off pitch - which we have done when hubby has joined me for the weekends when I am away with the kids in the summer holidays.  I have no problem with our 2nd car being parked off pitch.
