I'm glad I've read this thread. We've just got the extension to our Monty 6 and it confirms we've made the right decision. Now just got to arrange our camping trip.
we have a minnesota 4 (poor mans monty ), and got the extension for it. It almost doubles the usable covered space, and is very handy for storing all sorts of kit + cooking safely.
(why one of the above posters actualy strips their extension down the night prior to leaving, is beyond me. What happens to the gear its protecting??)
By the way - has anyone been charged extra for their extension anywhere?
ps. weeshell..id say you could!
Take it down purely as a time saver before morning departures
ooooooh, my extension and kids room arrived today!
now I NEED to pitch my tent and try them out. Don't care where..except I'm away this weekend (visiting friends/sister) and following 2 weekends we're busy.
Hmmmm..I'm sure we can find an excuse to pitch it before we go away next. Maybe to 'try it out and make sure it's ok'

I had heard this but following your link is first time i seen one. I guess this will be very popular and a lot of secondhand canopies will appear on ebay. Says due in stock 1/3/2010
But i have a plan, the canopy will fit on the front of the extension making it a serious tent. If i get a chance going to have to photoshop one to see what it looks like

got to agree floggitt i have ordered new front awning but keeping extension it will make the tent massive but not sure about pitch size may will have to wait and see will report back once camped and hopefully post some pictures
Andy did you find a supplier that has it in stock yet?
I make that about 11.8m long then! Here is another thought you can put the two extensions either way round so you can have open canopy in the middle section rather than at the end. For our two week breaks this would be fantastic. This is going to make a good versatile tent great.

Ordered from outdoor megastore but received email saying out of stock after I had confirmed and paid for it they say should be in stock by end of jan and will ship it straight out to me not going on 1st camp till may so not too worried yet
i really want the front awning for my monty but i cannot justify it, we are quite happy with the front extension and it has been a sperb bit of kit for us ........ hey ho there is always something more we want.
------------- A tent is like a newborn born baby..... to some they all look the same..... but if its yours it's beautiful.

I really want the front awning too this is my justification Gilly; i dont drink, i dont smoke, I work a hard physical job (farm worker). We dont waste money at xmas buying each other unwanted stuff for the sake of it. When something comes along that we like, want and will use we find a way of buying it. Well this is what I will be telling her when i ask if i can have my debit card out of her secret hiding place. Thats when i have paid off the tax bill

floggitt - what a great justification - we had the extension on our wish list last year, but never got it as we have invested so much other kit (starting up) so the awning (which is better with the door) will be our big camping purchase this year. Just need to refill the camping gaz and get some replacement pegs and we are good to go.
