I think the same could be said for bringing books on holiday. Why read a book on holiday?!

I think the simple answer is that all people are different. Everyone has their reasons for doing things. Lets let them get on with it without getting too agitated or interrogative about it! As long as they aren't causing offense, I say let them watch TV all day.

I for one would love to get a chance to sit and watch tv all day and let my daily troubles drift away for once! I'm too busy unfortunately.

I've got two kids under 5 and though I wouldn't take a TV, we havent got one small enough to fit in the car, I was so glad that I made the last minute descision to stick the laptop in on our first ever trip a few weeks back. Son number 2 (aged 2) woke up at 4.30am, think it was a combination of being cold and in a strange place, so I stuck a DVD on with the headphones which Kept him occupied till everyone else was ready to get up! Plus I was at least able to stay tucked up in my bag next to him and doze!

I say each to their own though it does seem a little bit of a waste to be watching it on a nice day when you could be out and about! But camping is after all a holiday and by definition should be filled with activities that YOU want to do maybe these people dont get a chance to simply sit and chill with the TV at home!

Lots of good points all round.

I'd never do it as it's great to see the kids have to make their own entertainment and enjoying the outside, but as long as it's not disturbing others...

...herein lies the issue though. What you might think is a "very low volume" can be heard word for word in the next tent. Not too bad before "bedtime" but after dark it is unfair.

Hi all
One of the most important things we all should know, is what the weather is doing, and the very best way is a small TV with Teletext or Ceefax, and believe me it can make rainy days under canvas much more enjoyable, but we have two pair of headphone that we use especially after around 2100hrs.
We have a 15" TFT that runs from both 240AC and 12volt DC.
Regards
Rex.

We recently had a nightmare with someones telly. They were in a caravan but had the telly in the awning which i would think is as soundproof or not as a tent. We listened to every word of Emmerdale , Corrie and a few other programmes
I say live and let live, take whatever you want, telly , dvd, kitchen sink as long as it's not bothering other people

No problem with anyone taking anything they want to make their holiday what they want their holiday to be.

As long as they realise that just because they are mutt and jeff doesn't mean everyone else is.

How frustrating on Friday night to be listening to the Big Brother theme tune coming from a nearby tent and not know who was being evicted LOL! nearly went over and asked to watch.

Wouldn't be so funny though if it had been after dark or early morning, and in the OPs case the TV was obviously loud enough that they could hear it or the comment about it being on all day, and even which programs were being watched, couldn't have been made.

I think if I'd seen them go out for the day I would have been tempted to switch if off - leaving a polite wee "helpful" note saying 'hope you don't mind the intrusion, but you forgot to switch your telly off when you left so did it for you just in case there was an electrical fault'.
