Thanks to everyone concerning advice and links for a roofbox, we are still looking into it.  Had to laugh at one post about still not having enough room even with a roof box, well I dare say your right, we didn't take all what we wanted to in the first place.  Can't afford a bigger car as in one suggestion, but thanks anyway!!  Oh and congratulations on your win bicknell, very lucky

I hope you all have a nice holiday/break and happy camping!

I too am getting a tad excited, we are off to the Lizard in Cornwall on Saturday.

After breaking my wrist in May while camping, I am looking forward to having a nice holiday, and hopefully not making any more trips to A&E.  I will be taking a raised airbed this time as I can't get up off the floor with a dodgy knee and now very weak wrist.

I am so looking forward to proper cornish pasties and seeing a play at the Minack theatre, although I'm just looking at all the stuff we have got to get in the car and starting to worry LOL, we should be okay we did it last time but then we only went for a week last time.

Lets hope the weather is good. FINGERS CROSSED EVERYONE

Oh I went to the Lizard last year - Do you go the Kynance Cove Beach?  Its beautiful down there.

I've still not packed - going to get cracking with it tonight.

The weather is bad down in Cornwall at the moment but hopefully by Saturday it should ahve cleared.  I've been on Carbis Bay webcam and there's not a sole on the beach!

Glad you mentioned the speed limit for towing - I had no idea it was 55mph.  Do you think the police are strict with this - and can speed cameras tell if you're towing?  Oh dear I'm worried about this bit now.

The National Trailer and Towing Association give these limits for towing:-

Speed limits:
Always keep to the legal speed limit for the road you are using.
Speed limits for cars towing caravans or trailers.

  • 30mph limit applies on all roads with street lighting unless signs show otherwise.
  • 50mph applies on single carriageways unless signs show otherwise.
  • 60mph applies on dual carriageways and motorways.

It should be remembered that you must not travel in the right-hand lane of a motorway, with three lanes or more, if you are driving a vehicle drawing a trailer.

Clare I love Kynance cove so much, but I doubt we will actually go down just for the fact of my dodgy knee, its a bit of a walk back and going down the rocky bit is just out of the question. I keep looking on the minack theatres webcam at the weather and checking metcheck each day, of course it changes everytime LOL

We spend alot of time at Kennack sands, we are staying at Silver Sands so I hope its a nice camping site.

I'm excited - going on my second camping weekend tomorrow - although the weather looks a bit poo.  Going to WOWO and read some great reviews on here, it certainly sounds like the sort of place I'd like.....

Hope everyone else going this weekend has great times and some sunshine!

We're off to Cornwall too- going to get on with the packing tonight and loading cars tomorrow so that we can make early start on Saturday morning! Our cat has not been well at all but he has rallied a bit today so I am happier about leaving him with my mum now. It will be our first time in our new frame tent so I am excited about that!!

Sarah x

ps Hall68- you will love Fforest Fields- it's such a lovely place, beautiful views and a special atmosphere.

I love Disney. Havent been for a year and am geting withdrawal symptom. Never thought of camping and Disney together. We have always stayed in a hotel on site! Mind you at a £1000 for 5 nights its probably a cheaper option.

Have a great time. Give Mickey a kiss from me and dont forget to go on Aerosmith!!!!

A very jealous Kay xx

Hi Caroleeee

Give Mickey a big hug from me too - we were there a few months ago - our first time too.  I might be in touch with you later about the camping there too - cost us a small fortune to stay in the hotel.

Well the weather forcast doesn't look too bad for the south this weekend so for all of us heading down there it shouldn't be too bad putting the tent up!

Does everyone set off at 'stupid o'clock' time?

yep LOL probably between 6 and 7 am.  But then we are not leaving from Yorkshire, that is one hell of a drive.

It takes us about 5 hours from Swindon to the lizard.

Hi Tanya

13 hours it took us to get to the Lizard last year!  M5 was shut because of the floods, nightmare!  But the kids were great and very well behaved, thank goodness!

I really wish I lived nearer though as I'm expecting Cornwall to be a yearly holiday for us from now on - well hopefully if this long camping trip goes well :)

Where are you staying? are you all packed up?

Weve just finished loading the car, god knows how we got it all in, but we did thankfully.

Have a safe journey Clare, and a great holiday, the weather is looking promising for tomorrow, fingers crossed.
