Update.

Manager phoned me today. Apologised again and called himself something I'll not repeat on the forum. Tent has been despatched and should arrive for the weekend.

Just to be clear I wasn't abusive. I defended myself against an accusation that I was trying to get the a refund so that I could buy the tent cheaper elsewhere.  The tent comes in three bags, Two of them were at home 6 miles away.

Once again thanks for all the replies. I'll not be buying so much as single peg from this outfit once this is sorted.

Will you be naming and shaming the company after you get the tent?

I've said before we should also have a store/camping shop/supplier review section as well as the tent and camp site reviews so we can put things like this on there.

Do you think he might have now read the sale of goods act?

If it's ok I'll name them no problem but after it's sorted. Still a newbie here so don't really know what the policy is. The car club site I'm a member of name poor garages.

Should have updated this before.

The replacement tent arrived and at first appeared to be exactly the same as the old one. But when we put the tent up the fan window mesh was held away from the inside of the tent unlike the original.

We used it last weekend in Banbury for two nights and despite torrential rain at times there were no leaks whatsoever.

The Manager gave us the new tent complete which means we have gained a sleeping annexe and some spare poles. They are around £100 to buy so can't complain at that.

I think that what this story partly highlights is that regardless of the knowledge of the shop staff/the manager/the customer there is no excuse not to display common courtesy and mutual respect.
