That's also way my toes crinch in my wellies when I read all the modcons that seem to have become a absolute necessity with some tenters. To all their own, of course but one can't just plan to soak up a biut of basic nature life between "Hollyoaks", "X-Factor", "Corry" and the Wii...
But then again, that's just my humble opinion.
<BLOCKQUOTE dir=ltr style="MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px">I read this postings on this site regularly but rarely contribute until now. I whole heartedly agree with Freebird. Myself and my 12 year old son went camping 3 times this year, all to C & C club sites. All were great and well run. We joined the C & C C after having bad experiences last year at two "recommended" privately owned commercial sites. C & CC are the best. I'll let you know when my view changes. We do not want for anything more than a grass pitch, toilets, showers and washing up facilities. We do not need EHU and apart from some absolutely necessary reasons we cannot understand why anyone else does. In these days of climate change I can't think of anything more unnatural than having a tent with an electricity supply.

Hi pceboon. So you are a camper of the old school but you do require a shower,we use a stream or river in summer even today in our old age.you also require a toilet with flush . we use our porta poty now but do prefer a toilet even a thunder box, we use a bowl with water boiled in the kettle to wash up. And even that is up to date as to what real campers do.
I would say you require as much mod cons as most, the EHU is to keep the old and very young warm,to entertain when it rain for a week solid, and keeps our food fresh and healthy.
Now out of the four mod cons the EHU is what I would say is the most essential.
All the best
Rex
PS Do agree with you that the C&C Clubs CS sites are the best
