just got back after 2 days in eskdale-what an experience! not knowing about hardnott pass we tried to get to eskdale via that route on friday about 6pm -turned back when the snow and pitch blackness frightened me and the wife to death! thought we were going to die uip there and never be found! had a massive detour and got to eskdale about 9pm. set up in the dark and got the pub for 10pm for some well earned beer! next morning and looked out to find the surroundings were superb- blue skies mountains and frost!. a couple of robins joined us for breakfast. four pods were occupied but one couple left on saturday morning because it was too cold for them. they should have been there sunday morning- it was minus 10, everything was white with thick frost.we got back from the pub saturday night- having had way too much and went to sleep with the doors wide open- its a wonder we wern't covered in ice when we woke up- but we were snug- slept on campbeds-fat airics and sheepskin rugs covered in fleece blankets and sleeping bags opened out. rubbish coming home isn't it? we'll be going back soon- depends on the weather whether its under a pod or canvas. there was one brave camper there this weekend in a two man tent too!
Hi
I can see the use of them for a one night stop like a YH or camping barn, but If you are staying a few nights this time of year, when you have a choice of pitches. What could be better than one of these here and have the smell of canvas to mingle with the bacon smell at B/fast
I think if I awoke there I would think I had turned into a bee but each to his or her own.
All the best.
Rex.

the beauty of these rex is theres no need to dry your tent out/ or get mud off etc afterwards, when getting it dry/cleaned up in winter is a nightmare-especially when you've no space. you just pack up and go home! easy-no worries
Hi John Glad to hear you had a great time. You should see the weather today here so I expect it to be worse up there. So long as you stay warm then it's great.
aye and its going to get worse this week!- glad i went last weekend otherwise i might have got snowed in,,, mind you that might have been a good thing!! no work!
Glad it all went well John, loved the sound of the cosiness with the sheepskin rug but amazed you survived with the doors open!!! I've stayed at Boot before and the views are gorgeous.
