yes,i agree with you Ashwellgirl.Another thing i have noticed,is that a lot of people who are camping, are single parents. That means they really do not have much money. It would be a lovely and delightful gesture,if camp sites knocked 10% off for single parent families.

I dont think thats right to be completely honest. Im not having a go at single parents. Its not my place to do that (or anyone elses to be honest). They take the same space as a family would and use the same facilities. Would a hotel charge a single parent less or going to a static van? I honestly dont think so. Camping is not an expensive holiday even with the price hikes this year its still within reach of people who otherwise couldnt afford to go to a static or abroad etc. I put myself firmly in that category too. I am the full time carer of my disabled wife and three children. There are lots of people in our position out there and many more to come. I think not only single parents struggle, so why should they get a discount where others who are just as skint dont?   Im not picking a fight or trying to start a crusade against single parents or anything like that. I am sometimes a single parent due to my wifes illness, so I know how hard it can get.

I am in the same camp as dezzie i to have a disabled wife with two kids , and i woldn't expect a discount or cheaper prices because of it ,my tent takes the same  pitch just like anyone elses , some holiday companies when you go abroad actually charge more to take disabled people , so camping is a good deal.

Doesn't value for money depend on expectations?

Now child-free (usually - may have grandson) we don't need playgrounds, games rooms etc. I'd rather be in a pub close to a site rather than on-site, unless it's something special, so not fussed about a clubhouse.

I do though want clean accessible loos & showers, and a little shop for local goods is always welcome.

I also want a good-sized pitch which is grassy & well-drained with EHU.

I can find such sites for £14 - 20 per night which suites me.

But when we had two young teens things were different - if they weren't happy and occupied we soon knew about it! Any price would have been worth paying.

Prices have definately gone up this year.

We usually pay around £25 per night but we are a large family (2 adults, 3 kids and loopy dog) so that only works out as £5 each per night.

Planning to go to some of our local C&CC DA meets this year - £6 per night is a bargain!!
