We were at Pen-y-Pont in Bala from Monday till today and when we arrived there were lots of caravans/camper vans but only one other tent. They left Tuesday then another young couple arrived and took their tent out of the car boot still in the box! It was painful to watch so after a few attempts at putting it up he seemed to have exhausted his vocabulary of expletives so we thought that was a good time to offer assistance which was greatfully received. They weren't really prepared for the camping life and departed Wednesday because of the rain (earlier than planned I think). When packing up she was wearing her best Primark PJs and a bin liner to keep dry!
Another couple arrived Wednesday but strangely at about 10 in the morning (earliest check in time was 1 o'clock). They also struggled for a bit but seemed to be managing so left them to it. When we returned from a drive out later in the afternoon, they too had gone!
When we left today there was still only one other tent on the site.
Despite the weather (we had a couple of overnight thunderstorms plus rain during the day) it was a good, relaxing week. Very cheap rate too, £13 per night with full facilities available.
Big up to the Evo 400 too, no problems whatsoever.
