We too bought a 'fancy' windbreak and the one and only time we took it we spent more time putting it up than we did the tent. Then the rest of the weekend avoiding all the guy ropes.
The stripy wooden pole windbreaks are much better.
We have both types an Outwell matching tent one - which is great because the pack size is small but bad because we have a toddler who continually trips over the guys. We also have a Blue Diamond one - yes its stripey but a more brighton kind of stripe and they do even more trendy designs than mine if you prefer that. I have to say its much better as it has metal caps on the wooden poles so you can really hammer it into the ground, plus if you are camping near a beach just whip it out & take it with you - you cant really take the Outwell ones to the beach. We hung a wet airbed over it at Easter and it didnt budge, its just the extra space it takes up which is a bit of a pain in the bum!
OK go on call me a snobish git ! but I have to say stripey windbreaks - they look OK on a beach somewhere in Rhyl or Scarbourgh - but a camping feild full of them !! argh !! looks like a gypsy camp in my opinion - they may work - but have about as much taste as danny la rue !!

That's as may be but if they work and stop the tent getting a battering from the wind who cares what it looks like
ps I loved Danny La Rue too
Don't make 'em like that anymore - mores the pity.

There are stylish stripey windbreaks you know - a stripe doesnt make something look cheap on its own!
My stripey was my Grandad's , he died in 1992 , so it has been well used & has many years left in it. As our tent is grey , it needs a stripey to brighten it up.
