Whats a mooncup?
It's this thing - http://www.mooncup.co.uk/
Men, look away now please... <stage whisper>Basically just a rubber cup that needs emptying down the loo and rinsing out a couple of times a day<end whisper>. Some of my friends are too squeamish to use one but I'm happy enough, me! I had the Mirena coil fitted last year but it didn't affect my periods at all! :(

Do you find that camping trips always conincide with that time of the month? I think there must be some law that says it is going to happen!
OMG this is sooooo true!!
So then i started not having a 7 day break with the pill.
Then i forgot to pack my pill and so got IT anyway.
I have a mooncup too. Had it for about 8 years now. Absolutely brilliant, no need to carry extra supplies and I'd recommend any of you ladies to try one!
Have to say it's something that has been going over in my mind, I hate my Period time especially the 2 days prior and first 2 days of it, my kis and hubby think i've been abducted by aliens and relpaced with an ogre!!!
That mooncup looks interesting, is it not really messy to use though?
How do you explain to hubby and kids what it is boiling in a pan on the camp stove????
You don't need to boil it other than at the end of your period, and even then you could wait until you got home and bung it in a bowl in the microwave. I don't even worry about boiling it at all - I just put mine in an old cup with some boiling water and a couple drops of bleach and leave it to soak for half an hour. A quick rinse and dry and put it away until next month.
It can be a little messy to use, but no worse than any other sanitary products really, Its also cheaper in the long run, better for your body and greener too. Does take a little practice to get used to at first - when I first tried I thought I wouldn't get the hang of it, but by the end of the first month, I had it sussed and have never looked back.
I started to use a mooncup and found it helpful to take a bottle of water with me to the loo at work in order rinse cup and hands when emptying it. I then had some GU problems and was advised to stop using it for a while. This thread has reminded me about it; must dig it out, sterilise it and start using it again as I saved a small fortune in sanpro and found it quite easy to use.
i can't believe how lucky i am this yea.....we go away every year on our main hols, and this is my first summer holiday away, when i won't be on!!! I'll have 2 happy weeks on my jolly hols!! I can't wait!
------------- love shopping, love a bargain even more!
