Silly question, but don't nylon/polyester tents wear out in a few years? If so, how much point is there in buying one of those massive tunnel numbers? WOuldn't you be better buying a canvas frame tent and have it last 30 years?

Hell stop scaring me ! There were some very informative posts by ValK & some others on a previous thread about the life of tents (!) & though unquestionably the synthetic ones don't last as long as a similarly used well looked after canvas one, I think the synthetics degrade mainly due to UV rays ?
There was a fair bit of discussion on this, & as the likes of me don't get to camp in sunlight that often () the extra money needed to buy an equivalent canvas tent would be totally unnecessary - ie a waste of dosh we can't really afford to spare anyway !
