We had your pitch for two nights after you vacated it bluenosewidow, it was a lovely site, but boy did it rain through the early hours today.......I have brought home the wettest tent I`ve ever had...it was still dripping when it came out of the roof box!!!

Lovely weekend with Keely and Gill again...

Fisherground - 30th and 31st October

Arrived in the rain and wind - pitched the Kite ( sorry Baltic Sea )  in a force 5, ( well it felt like it ) once set up everything nice and dry inside the tent - got EHU  so heater on full blast all the time -  night time too wet to BBQ  so had to make do with local pub - and then DVD back at the tent ( haunted mansion, of course ) - took CG Powerbox  so chilled drinks on tap.  The feild was OK when it was dry - but lots of mud to tread around the entrance to the tent wasn't good,  spent haloween as the only campers there ( other than the two wierwolves,  sorry cyclists )  over in the far corner - 

Having just taken 10 yr old son on a spooky Ghost steam train ride from Ravenglass to Dalegarth and back along with monsters,  skeletons, a dead station master with a large green lamp. the occassional frankenstein, ghosts, and all manner of other zombies along the way -  now beginning to realise that I am completely mad - a  low lying mist and fog on the mountain passes prevented us from leaving in any sort of safety  - so had to endure a very wet night before packing the whole lot up in yet more heavy rain and wind. got a slight problem with the front of the tent, which by now was giving in to the constant water battering - anyway -   I am now officially a hardened camper  

Would I do it again,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Definately !,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ( Not ),

Tent now drying out in heated garage before being put away for what seems forever,

Im not going to start another "problems with outwells" thread - as I beleive that these products are pretty good all round,  but I did get a fair bit of water coming in from the front door panel on the Bally.

I saw this before in Cornwall, but dismissed it as rain that had blown under the valance - but not so - in a complete downpoar the front panel does actually allow water through at one point - so its off back to Yeomans for a test - and probably, a replacement.   I have to say that it takes a pretty serious downpoar to do this - I am in general quite amazed at how much rain these Polycottons will take.

However - never as much as a drip in the Bearlake - so Im a little bit naffed at this one letting me down,

got back from bank farm saturday (been in hosp for ankle op since then) so havent had time to report that we HAD A LOVELY WEEK!!!! weather was great, very mild, dog enjoyed himself, kids did too - on the beach in t shirts. even stayed an extra night.

i was worried about this week - but it was great - didnt need the heater on all the time & i took sleeping bags & duvets - but we didnt use the sleping bags as it was warm enough with the duvets. 

will have to try this again in the spring.

just a short update for October 24th to 27th

We just had 3 nights at Greenhill leisure park nr Oxford we were the only tent on site large pitches with hardstanding 1/2 full caravans but verry quiet

Saturday arrived wind blew up on setting up 2 windbreaks Outwell Arizona extra guys added and first night tent buckled about 8 inches nothing broke but tent noisy but temp warm EHU & heater used on low & carpet & extra groundsheet under sleep area DVD and bed 3and 4 season sleeping bags so not cold at all

Sunday rained a few hours & dryed out checked out local area Sainsburys good steak dinner cooked in tent for tea DVD and bed clear sky so cold but ok in tent

Monday glorious Sunshine 5 hours in Oxford (Inspector Morse trail) & sightseeing followed by pub meal for tea DVD and bed

Tuesday wet weather left late 1/4 to 12 tent still wet went to Ailsbury & statley home on way back to Manchester traffic slow on m6 back at 8oclock tent on living room floor for a week to dry out turning over morning and night moped over the groundsheets the next sat and put all away dry till next trip (hopefully June) overall good October camping experiance.

That's what glass dining tables are for!

Draped it over, not in the way, put old towels around the edges where it touched the wooden floor, and just moved it about from time to time to ensure it all got dry.

Simples.
