We cancelled and ended up in a log cabin & I have to say Im definitely glad we did - the weather was grim grim grim!  Friday rained all day solid, Saturday had pleasant moments but was chilly, rained again Saturday night and blew a gale all day Sunday.  Woke up yesterday to lovely blue skies with a chilly wind - headed back home where it was cold and overcast hey ho!!  I would go again Spring bank holiday but would book something much nearer the time.

Hopefully by Whit our much hyped heatwave will be upon us!!!

We had a brill weekend...

It rained overnight (who cares?) but Friday evening, Saturday and Monday were glorious - and on Sunday we came back to MK to watch son play footie at MK Stadium, by the time we got back to the site on Sunday afternoon it was dry if a bit windy.

To some extent I was a bit disappointed to have missed the miserable Sunday morning as I would have loved to have tucked up in the tent and had the chance to play some board games or read the Sunday papers (whereas the trip back to MK felt like an interruption to the hols), and it would have been quite fun to watch those that abandoned ship in the rain as a lot did because the place was like the Marie Celeste when we got back (sorry, does that make me mean?). Its a shame cos by the time they'd packed and gone presumably the worse was over?

We left one day early too.

Got really wet on Friday as trying to put handirack on top of car in a sudden downpour!  Then got even wetter as struggled to strap handibag onto handirack! Phew! finally underway an hour later than we'd planned.

Arrived on site and put up the tent etc.  Saturday evening we knew the forecast was for rain so we decided to try out the new Coleman Canopy.  Glad we did.  about 4.30 it started to rain, we all (5 adults and one small dog) enjoyed an evening drinking and eating under the canopy.  It kept raining until 1pm the next day, but as there was a severe weather forecast for the rest of the day for the area, and the temperature was due to be zero, we decided that enough was enough and packed up early...Although not as early as the family next to us who left the site at 2.15am! on Sunday and left their brand new tents (3!) behind!

Really enjoyed the company & camping, could have stayed if the rain/wind/freezing and been not combined together.  Already booked for the next bank holiday.  :-)

We stuck it out and came back last night (as planned) - my husband's first ever time camping... And our 3 year old's first time too. We were at Norman's Bay. Saturday was glorious all day. Saturday night it bucketed down with rain and it kept bucketing until late Sunday afternoon. Then the wind picked up and a punishing icy blast blew in from the north all Sunday night, the tent was bent over at times and the sound of the wind on the tent was deafening...

And we had a great time !!!

Husband says he can't wait to go again, and our little boy is telling all his friends about it. We don't have EHU but were plenty warm enough - used every single tip I picked up on threads here, so thanks to all who have shared their expertise on the many 'keeping warm' threads!! Crucially, we stayed dry while it was pelting down outside - hurrah for our brilliant vango icarus - it really stood up to some punishment!

We headed off and hoped for the best down near Hastings. Had a lovely two nights and had a lovely walk on Saturday. Started raining about 3am on Sunday morning and was still coming down at 4pm Sunday afternoon. It was then when we decided that this wasnt much fun and the forecast just said more of the same. So came home a day early.

No shame in it and still had a great weekend. Just hope our next trip lasts the full 3 nights!

We dropped out for May bank Hol.

The final decision not to go came on the Friday when the OH said, we have the heating on in the house, how are we going to feel in a tent??

I didn't put up a fight and at the end of the day, the weather can make or break a camping trip. On a Sunny weekend, there's nothing more I would rather be doing.
