I too was not sure about camping BH, but as friends said they wanted to come I had to compromise.
We stayed at Shamba, St Leonards in Dorset. We were lucky enough to get extremely large pitches on overflow non ehu camping fields opened for the first time this year (or so I was told). The main site seemed to have much smaller pitches with awnings practically on top of each other, so I would try and avoid that.
There were plenty of spaces left in the camping fields which were well marked out. Only had a problem with noise for a bit one evening and I think that may have been local youths rather than any residents.
We practically had the indoor (outdoor if weather good enough!) swimming pool too ourselves too on the Monday!
