I've been thinking about this overnight and sudeenly thought that a few solar lights around the outside or hanging off the canopy would probably throw out less light than the lights we use inside the tent. So tents are going to be well illuminated at night time anyway.
Good site Dezzie - perfect for the glow sticks for all the children at Pillaton.
The funny thing is, I was thinking last night that my parasole lights form poundland (about as much use as a chocolate tea pot) would look nice on the tent
What do you people do to me with you powers of suugestion????
The reason I wouldn't like lights, just to be clear, is if they were on all night, and shining near my tent, which is the problem I see with solar ones, they are generally a real pain to turn off.Or at least the ones we used to have in the garden were.
I like the glow stick ideas though, might get some for the children when we camp this month!

We had some Halloween ones on the sun canopy last October and are looking to get some solar ones now - just a few fairy light type ones not anything mega bright, nothing worse than caravans with their outside lights or awing lights on.
I am going off subject here but make is your suncanopy and would it fit on my Cabanon Aruba it is just what i want ??

Totally agree - especially since I tried out my new Northstar, wow it's bright! If we have lights outside, they always get turned off/taken inside when we go in. I don't mind what other people do as long as they don't light my tent up.
Have you got a Poundland nearby Keeley? They usually have glowsticks in the summer, ours has. You get 20 bracelet type ones in a tube or a 5 pack of the chunky ones. We get them for putting on the dogs for night time walks but they're just too tempting after a drink....
A solar light by the door is quite useful when you need to find your way back in after a stroll to the toilet! Wouldn't have any objection to subtle lighting, have been known to take citronella candles to ward off the bugs!

nearest £ land is about an hours drive away.
That's the sort of glow sticks we get for throwing for all the children when it gets dark - should have seen them all last year at Pillaton all dressed up in the dark with them.
I've never seen them sold apart from with the tent second hand (as ours was)
I know the A series annexe's fit all the A Cabanons but don't think it's the same for the sun canopies as the tents asre different widths.
Have you tried Forrest Camping, Camping and General, Camping International?
They may have to odd one lying about or they may put you in touch with someone who may have one, or may be able to get one from Cabanon or get Cabanon to make one for you - I'm sure someone posted ages ago that Cabanon made one for them.
We use solar lights on the main door guys... cost £1 each at the pound shop (funnily enough). The best thing about the cheap ones is that they pack really small.

I reckon a couple of small solar lights, especially near guy ropes, is a good idea
I'm glad to hear that, we have 4, one on each corner, purely to light up where the guy ropes are. They're the mushroom shaped things that just give off a glow, I can't imagine that they'd disturb anyone. Not as much as the ambulance coming to get me after I'd tripped and broken an ankle, anyway!
Solar lights are great, we used to put glow sticks down to highlight the pegs, but they are full of dodgy chemicals so I am glad we don't need them any more, poundland is marvellous! we have a bird hanger to hang the tilly from if we want to read, and we put two solar lights in the tent at night to mark the runway to the portapoti,

Funny you should say that about glowsticks as my dad who is a retired chemist always swore that they were filled with dodgy stuff and no matter how much we cried as kids to be allowed to have them at events we went to he wouldn't let us near them. Have to say though I've never heard of death by glowstick but you just reminded me about it!!
Solar lights are a great idea, look lovely and better than tripping over guy ropes! Anyone who objects really must have a few issues...
Re glow sticks and dangerous chemicals, I remember a friend returning from a rave in the late 80s and telling me that people were [allegedly] cutting the tops off them and squeezing the glowy stuff in their eyes. Eeek!
