It's nowt to do with rating them.

I have never needed to use one. I used a ute trailer when I camped and nowadays we caravan and have an even bigger ute trailer.

We were given the roof box as payment for a job but we don't need it and the two roof racks that came with it do not fit any of our cars.

I really cannot see the point of buying a set of bars to fit our roofs, just to fit on a roof box that I do not need.

However for those that do not have an alternative, they must be manna from heaven for the extra space.

My street cred would be in tatters if I put one on my car! Mind you, I don't have a family to pack for. A set of roof bars would be ok I suppose.

My "street cred" has been in tatters ever since I needed two walking sticks to get from my front door to my car.

It is now back again though. I now have Titanium Knees!!!! So the sticks are in the bin and I dance to my car these days.

All of our "when we get there" essentials go in ours which are Khyam Michingan 12 man ten with inners (unbagged), pegs and mallets, kettle, small stove, tea/coffee/sugar. That way if it's raining boot doesn't get opened until the tents up (or we've had a cuppa) and it saves space in our boot for the other bits and bobs. Have to say we are glampers so not only do we have a 470 ltr box on our MG ZTT with a massive boot we also have a trailer!!!!
