I've managed to get booked up at a site in Whitby. Just hope it isnt one of the ones your talking about. My OH booked it on tuesday, but i think i will call up and double check in a couple of weeks. I booked a site last year with the offer, and when i called a couple of weeks before had the woman totally denied taking my booking, even though i know it was her i spoke to. Fingers crossed it works out this year.

But I bet that £150 was cheaper than booking direct ? and if not then why did you book?!!!!

all the extra charges are there plain as day for all to read,on the website and in the paper pullout!

plus you do not HAVE to have their linen ( bring your own) or entertainments passes ( some people just use the site as a base)

we have been doing SUN holidays since Oct 2006 and as we can only go during school holidays we have saved loads!

been to our fave site La Croix Du Vieux Pont 3 times so far and many various UK sites too, even "chavvy" ones like Butlins ( the kids love it ! )

I am not defending the SUN ,I don't even read or buy it! ( I have a priority booking code so only need to input the code words and not buy the actual paper for the tokens )

I love it when people sl*g these deals off, leaves more chance / choice for moi

Well, there's your answer then......don't buy papers at all !

We saved more with our C & C C card than the papers were offering !    Just read the lists of charges and campare the offers.....papers ?    Caravan member discount.... Disabled discount.  Ask the receptionist to work out your best deal for you, they will because they want you to go there and spend all of your hard earned savings ???

...but entirely accurate so far as I am concerned, since most of their outlook/opinions would be formed over time from the information they gather from their chosen media on a day to day basis.

I would wager that the vast majority of Sun readers (or any newspaper for that matter) have very similar points of view on society, politicians, celebrities and so on. Few people would choose to regularly purchase and read a newspaper if they didn't agree with the majority of opinions expressed within.

Pigeon holing people based on a an assumption that the entire few million who buy it(and thats basing the assumption that anyone taking these deals absolutely must buy it every day) share the same demographics/outlooks/views is narrow minded.

Maybe campsites could start allocating pitches based on tents/equipment. "Montys over there please in the shady glade, Vangos and Gelerts out in the open field, ooo an Argos/Halfords camper, how quaint(and common), you're over in the badly drained field/dog exercise area"

We too have booked a stacic for the end of September just for something diifferent Yep £9.50 each plus passes and service charge pn plus linen.

Which it clearly states on the pullout.

Only 3 of us going, we have to pay the service charge, fine.

We only paid for 3 entertainment passes, fine.

You dont have to use their linen so no charge there, fine.

I too think its a great deal and have been on many Sun hols, bring it on.

gotta say I agree with jilly

We did a sun holiday back at Easter ( am too much of a wimp to camp then) we booked a mon - fri for 6 of us. Then Oh couldn't get the time off work. So I only paid for 5 passes, and the elec/gas charge I NEVER pay for linen even tho in this case it meant lugging it down to Devon on the train.

I then managed to extend the holiday for £60 meaning we arrived on Mon and left on Mon, OH managed to get the second monday off so drove down Friday night meaning we did manage a few days holiday as family. Total cost for this all was abut £160 BUT the mon - fri holiday price was £199, so we made a considerable saving. My DD didn't want to go on the holiday meaning I could afford to take my neice away with us, she'd not had a holiday since she was in Primary and she's just left high school.

I just made sure I was going to somewhere I knew and had been before - yes kinda defeats the object a bit but I knew I'd be without transport for the main part of the holiday so needed to be somewhere I knew I could cope with four kids!! So knew the site was chavvy or run down or nasty accom.

Yes you can end up paying more when you factor in the extras, we did on our first one many yrs ago, BUT choose carefully and you can get a bargain. Do your reseach carefully.

I saw this offer last year and never bothered with it, when camping in late Sept, the chap next to us said he had booked with the Sun tokens and he had saved a fortune by doing it this way, so this year i will give it a go, if it turns out no good i wont bother next year.

I also had problems booking one site in particular in Cornwall quoted us but said we were only allowed to use three vouchers at a time, read the small rint i was told, there was nothing in the small print on this number 80 on the map site!  however three nights with vouchers not a problem I said, how much? £10 per night with the voucher and £12 without! plus electric plus dog plus people charges! The extra five nights we wanted would have been full price plus electric plus people plus dog etc etc. Anyway OH got on the phone and he was quoted a different price, I responded to the email originally sent and received a very cutting and rude response from the owner saying that we must think they are mad if they are going to give us a pitch for £1 a night plus electric plus dog, he said that wouldn't cover the toilet paper and soap!? He also got quite personal. Horrible man don't go there. (Number 80)  Anyway a few calls later, and Bingo !  Site booked for eight nights using five vouchers (that is all we have) at £1 a night  three nights at full price of £14 plus hook up plus dog, Eight nights for £87 including soap, toilet paper, loos, showers, and boot drying room, pub on site cooked breakfast if we want it oh and people can go in our pitched tent too if we want!

I did a lot of research on The Sun back in the 80s.  At that time (Kelvin McKenzie era) the paper was entirely pro-Thatcher.  About a third of readers believed it was a Labour supporter and 15% believed it had no political alignment at all!

No paper has a homogenous readership.  eg The Sun is anti-drugs but what percentage of its readers enjoy cocaine on a Saturday night?
