Jscksc, sadly no one takes much notice of alarms anymore, you may get a few disturbed grumpy people complaining about the noise if it goes off, but they most likely wont be coming to your rescue!
It's incredibly rare for any incidents to occurs on proper camp sites, and best precautions are:
1) Get to know your neighbours, so that anything out of the ordinary, they are extra eyes and ears working for you. The camping fraternity traditionally are pretty good at looking out for each other and being helpful, the new to the pastime 'Covid campers' may be less so.
2) Any personal valuables that you really can't leave at home and need with you (wallet/purse etc.) should either be locked in your car, or kept in your sleeping bag with you overnight, but kept out of general sight as much as possible.
3) Personal safety is not likely to be a real issue, but a bit of common sense does no harm, avoid pitching near anyone who just doesn't feel right to you, our instinct is a wonderful tool.
It's a judgement call as to whether you want to put faith in your immediate neighbours, but pointing out your concerns for personal safety and that any alarm triggered in your tent is an intruder may make allies out of them who will respond. Other people just initially wont know where the alarm is coming from and what it's purpose is so are not likely to try and assist you!
There are endless alarms of the style you put the link up for, most considerably cheaper. Biggest problem is trying to find two points to anchor to that will pull the thing apart and trigger it if the zip is opened. It also needs to be easily disconnected so that you can unzip the tent yourself.
Try and relax and enjoy yourself, it's a great lifestyle.
