We have an Outwell Maryland XL which has a footprint of about 9m x 6m without guylines plus we also use a pup tent and toilet tent. We have never paid for two pitches, but we do prefere the less commercialised sites who don't try to rip off families who need the space when our British weather does its best to keep us indoors!

Well, we probably hack a few people off with our choice of Ohio Xl plus awning, just for the two of us. It measures 7.7m x 5.5m including the awning. We chose this tent because it suited us for what we wanted. We use one of the pods for our porta loo and usually keep a holdall in there for dirty clothes. The middle pod has a wardrobe and always kept unzipped. The third pod is our sleeping area. We have a blow up sofa or two blow up chairs, depending on what we have chosen to take on that particular trip, and also a table in the living area. In the awning we have a table, 2 camping chairs, a kitchen cupboard, and a kitchen stand. Plus any odds and sods.

I don't see why anyone should have a problem with my set up. I chose a large unit and I was aware that on some sites I would need an extra large pitch. It allows me to camp without compromise.
