I cann't wait for Easter as it is our first camping trip this year and as it is a late Easter we are hoping for better weather than last year .we will be on EHU just in case its great to have a long weekend and as there is another the weekend after i just can not wait we are booked in for both at the same place and if the weather isn't horrendous i will be stopping in between just me and my dog Then husband will come back on the Thursday evening
Thanks for all the repies...don't think I've ever had so many!
We are regular campers, but don't normally go until the summer (may-aug). I think, by the sounds of it, an extra layer of clothes or blankets should do the trick at night!
We've camped for the last 2 Easters hols and been lucky with the weather on both occasions.... Going to The Orchard this Easter and really looking forward to it..It can get really cold in the night and we usually wear hats and thermal socks to bed. Wear layers as its easier to take them off it you get too hot! We normally have hot water bottles too and warm up the tent up with a gas heater before we go to sleep! If its really cold have a cuddle, body heat always works! Have fun x
We are off to the Orchard too! Going for 11 nights from the 21st...I can't wait!
We camped at Easter a few years ago - wrong tent, wrong equipment, no EHU and night temp of -2c. I swore i would never do it again! However we camped out on Saturday night in our new tent and I can't tell you how much difference a sewn in ground sheet, EHU and heater made, loved it and can't wait for our next trip. Having adequate bedding, insulation and clothes is the key to camping in the cold (and a dog on your feet at the bottom of the bed!) Enjoy
My dog usually sits himself in front of the fan heater while inside the tent, clever boy!
He loves it when I point my hairdryer at him while getting ready to go out at home.
Can't wait until the Thu before Easter as I shall make a dash to the campsite straight after working an early shift!

I've camped a couple of times at around Easter in varying weather. One trick I've learned it to keep warm during the early evening even if I don't feel cold - always wear a hat to insulate your head, this is one the most important parts of you to keep warm. and wear plenty of clothes - don't wait until you feel cold before wrapping up, as then you've lost a lot of core body heat and your body is playing catchup.
As others have said here, a few layers and a decent sleeping bag should do you fine. I always wear a beanie hat to bed too, as I tend to move about a bit in the night and my head always ends up outside the sleeping bag hood.
Also, it's surprising how warm you can get the tent with a gas burner on it's lowest possible setting with all the doors zipped up - although that will be quickly dissipated when you turn it off. I should add I would never recommend sleeping in a tent with a naked flame burning!
If you want something more elaborate, I have a BlueCat from CampingGaz - they are excellent at keeping the chill off when you're in the tent - even keeps my Orchy 500 toasty.
Craig, are the bluecat heater good on fuel consumption when on the low setting. As I have been thinking of swapping over from the type of gas heater which takes the aerosol type cannisters?
We did our first meet of year at Longthorns farm in Dorset Last week end 25-28th March. The weather was perfect and quite unbelievable for the time of year ....see attached link 'live from longthorns' .....there's a couple of great pictures on each page if you scroll down. Yes it was bloody cold at night, but the firepits then thermals, a good sleeping bag and for some an EHU and heater kept us sleeping soundly.
That's the thing with this camping lark eh....you just never know what the weather will do so pack for all eventualities lol!
