no the replacement tent i have seen is not recomended by anyone other than the very nice man in the shop when we were looking at the vango maritsa, he advised us of an identical tent 2 small differences, 1) 80 cm and  2) the groundsheet in the porch area isnt sewn in on the one i looked at but it is on the vango.

now the man in the shop could quite easily have sold me the vango as it was more expensive but he gave good advice and we had a long talk about the benefits, he also said my khyam was an amazing tent.

Wow, Dezzie, I have found someone else who has owned a Utah! I will be camping in ours until it dies - which will be a sad day indeed. I read a review once which described it as looking like a giant wendy house but I love it and it has served us well on many camping trips.

Its a brilliant tent ANGE. I love the fact its a steel framed tent and really strong. I sold ours two years ago when we got the Norfolk lake and I regret it big time. The family i sold it to keep in touch with us and they are still using it and love it as much as we did. I'd say its the best tent Gelert ever made bar none. It'd be nice if they brought a new version out sometime - perhaps a little bigger and with some windows at the front. But in all honesty if there was ever a tent that i'd say was near perfect, it would have to be the Utah 4+4. I hope you get many more years out of it. I still compare every single tent I use to the Utah.

I see he took advantage of the quick erect system

OP - After 'hours' of trawling through reviews of various tents it was apparent at the time that Khyam were/are a known good brand. I trundled off to Camping and Leisure world in Frensham to have a look and as soon as I walked in I knew it was the one for me (I guess the same way you do when looking for a house). It has LOADS of room for the extended family.

We are now looking for a 'weekend' tent when the size of the family reduces and our first port of call is Khyam, however with a budget and Khyams prices we may need to look at other brands. But I'm a sold Khyamite (if there is such a word!)

If my bro did that to me, I would no longer have a bro.!

No your tent isn't rubbish - I love our Ontario 8 and I reguarly recommend Khyam tents (I also have the Khyam Nevada)

I have found them to be excellent quality, spacious (the Ontario can genuinly take 8 x 75cm wide airbeds not those tiny 55cm mats that most manufactureres seem to base their bedroom pod sizes on!), easy to pitch, 5000HH rating and fantastic value for money.
