What an absolutely fab piccie!  Yes I totally agree.. it is a lovely site.  I am sure it will always have people returning year on year.. I have no doubt that we have had some just freaky weather.  (maybe I am just a bad omen!!!  :-)  ). We saw a couple of tents go down a year or two ago, and I guess it always plays on your mind?  Having said that,  It is what I would call a "proper" campsite, no noisy club houses  and no designated pitches- free and easy!

Generally speaking most of the campers there are great, lovely bunch, and yes I did speak to Mick in the morning who echoed your point exactly.  However, when you hear a physical fight with things being thrown about I was not all together happy about coming out of the tent even if it was to speak to Mick!

I hope you have a lovely time down at Acton Fields in August, and remember to take loads of piccies as I will never tire of that fantastic view.

Sounds like you had an awful time!

No, in terms of taking a tent down in high wind, I think a lot depends on the type of tent. We have a tunnel tent and we tend to leave the back of the tent tethered by guys and the base of the tent and walk back section by section to the back of the tent lying the whole thing down including the poles.   However, a lot of that depends on the wind direction and the shape and size of the tent.  When it comes to dodgy conditions get as many hands to it as possible.

I find folding it in a real pain in wind, so I tend to do a best effort and sort it when I get home.
