As a solo camper I would like to see more articles geared up to those who camp alone - eg info on decent-sized tents which are easy for one person to erect (we don't all want to squeeze into a little bivvy at floor level with no room to move - I myself have a 4-berth vis-a-vis and the extra space is invaluable).

Maybe a list of campsites which charge per person or offer discounts on the pitch fee for solo campers - why should one person  have to pay the same price as two adults with two or three kids? Also, for the dog loving campers, a list of sites which don't charge for dogs.

And cut what seems to be a continual love affair with the Lake District and feature in-depth reviews of sites in different areas of the country - the UK does extend further than Cumbria!

And as for the so-called photo competition - include more scenic or action shots rather than just photos of people. I fail to see anything remotely interesting in a succession of photos which show people dressed in fleece jackets and woolly hats sitting outside a tent, and how on earth some of them can win a prize is totally beyond me!

Sorry if I've been a bit blunt, but you did ask!

I'd like to say that I have enjoyed the current feature you've been running where staff at the magazine have been testing a tent each but again, I feel you haven't really gone into as much detail as you could have in the magazine. I think it might be good to maybe involve readers with things like this? I know I'd jump at the chance of having a tent to try out and write about for you! (Yes I'm cheeky but it's worth a try!)

If you'd like to be involved in reviewing tents or anything else, drop me an email. Again I take on board your comments about tent reviews - unfortunately sometimes we are restricted in what we can write by space in the magazine but hopefully that might change in the future.

Id like to see :

*More campsite reviews with more pictures of facilities. A nice picturesque image of a lakeland site is all well and good, but many want to know what are the loos/showers like, whats the pool like etc?

* more variation of site locations, rather than the nice photogenic sites in the Lake district more reviews of sites in the South. I only recall one site in the South East being reviewed since Ive been reading (Crystal Palace). I tow a trailer from the south and wont be going t'up north at 60mph too often!

*Decent tent reviews covering all berths. Id expect to see a couple of reviews of a 6 berth, a 4 berth, 2 berth etc every month plus special review articles comparing various contenders. eg month comparing 6 4 berth tents etc.

*More equipment reviews, theres so much stuff to be bought to go camping and whilst there are special features I think there can be more put into the magazine. Im sure there arent as many products being launched like there would be in electronics but surely more can be covered.? People have 5 page threads on here about picnic mats so shows the interest camping geeks have !

Some good ideas in there. Re: photography, again there's a balance between practicality and the magazine looking good. Readers do like to look at nice images and they draw them in to the article. But hopefully we can use pictures of site facilities alongside the more aesthetically pleasing pics.

The south east is one area that I'd agree we could do more on - and there are others!

In terms of the tent and equipment reviews, we are obviously limited by resources and time - we don't have as big a team here as I bet you think! It may be possible to compare several 6 berths one month then 4 the next etc though. It is certainly something worth considering - at the moment we try to give a variety of different sizes/styles of tents each month to appeal to as many people as possible.

Blunt is good! I take on board your comments - you'll see the difficulty we have though. So far everyone else has been asking for more family camping content, while you are looking for the complete opposite. We have to try to get the balance right.

I appreciate that and I'm sure you will get it right. Of course you could always increase the number of pages to provide enough space for all the various different articles - at least then it might take more than ten minutes to read it and it would also be worth the £3.40 cover price

I agree with all the comments made, Hope they help you to improve the mag, I'm sure they would fly off the shelves with the right content!

There are also loads of different tents that people would love to have a good nosey at, not just the bog standard ones, how bout some of the older canvas ones that we all dribble over when they are for sale on a popular auction site? Also the lovely pryamids from Holland? I'd love to see more on camping abroad too, lots of us travel camping every year to Europe.

Mmmm tent tester, my dream job, it would save my husband a fortune!
