We bought the ones on offer at Decathlon to use on a camping trip last week and were very impressed with how well they worked. As a few others have said, best to pat yourself dry not to rub. Saved on space as they roll up pretty small. Dried really quickly too, so it was a great buy for us. Wont be taking any big towels away again. Well worth the money.

Just got the Gelert 140x90cm Microfibre towel from Amazon.

Having used Microfibre cleaning cloths, I can confirm that this is in no way similar to one of those. This feels like a soft chamois cloth not like the cleaning cloths that makes ones teeth go on edge.

Thanks to the OP for the topic and whoever recommended the Gelert version.

Thumbs up for Lifeventure ones from me. I've got a couple of the XL size and they're brilliant for drying and saving space, particuarly when backpacking, etc. In fact I can fit my towel in my wash bag with everything else - just one bag to take into the shower!

I have just used my Hi Gear one this week and can honestly say it was fantastic.

I was very dubious about how good it would be but it did a great job, either patting or rubbing dry as you would normally and I actually felt dryer than I do with a normal towel.

Don't be put off about how the feel, the Hi Gear ones are like a soft chamois and feel lovely on your skin and there is now snagging either.

I will deffo be getting some more of these for all the family.    (Especially since I have to pack an extra bags for the towels alone normally!)

Just picked up a microfibre towel - chamois cloth style - from Trespass half price for £6.45 and measures 75cm x 130cm.  Mountain warehouse also have theirs reduced too.  Although we do have the space to take normal towels, they are a bit of a nightmare to dry in rainy weather, so it's the microfibre's quick drying properties which appeal

We have the expensive chamois type ones and they are excellent ( were lucky enough to get to get the large size £8 each in a Mountain warehouse shop in Keswick) ,but just lately we have been taking a few flannels each and we are amazed to find that you can completely dry yourself on a tiny flannel ,honestly it works ( just keep wringing it out ) they wash out and dry quickly and take up no room and you can pop one in your soap bag to travel to the showers .

Got a couple in Millett's sale this time last year.  Haven't tried them yet, but will be taking them next trip, as it's time they were road-tested!  Glad to read all these posts.  I've no idea what kind of microfibre ours are, but they were about a tenner each, reduced from twenty, so probably pretty good quality.
