I have stayed in a couple of these Micro lodges or Timber tents. I do prefer my tent but see these as an alternative when freezing weather and when I get to old to pitch a tent

If you enjoy walking and outdoor activities Graham I doubt very much you will feel lonely camping solo; I think it is one of the most relaxing pursuits you can do, although I would always take my dog. It is definitely a time out, camping time stretches for hours and only yourself to please.
Also you will find many solo campers joining up for meets where you socialise as much or as little as you want, worth a try. I have made some great friends doing that. It's fun to share a meal in a pub or round a firepit.
Do give it a try, I'm sure you will really enjoy it.

Kar.en....have you been yet????
Not yet - going on Saturday. I now have a satisfying pile of camping gear in the dining room again (I've missed seeing it there since it went in the loft in September!) and I'm getting pretty giddy. I'm also very pleased that I won't have to wrestle the roof box onto the car this time - it's amazing how little I have to take when I'm leaving the kids behind!

Thank you - I'm sure I will!
You may enjoy it so much you would wish to go on your own all the time!

Camping without the kids is so much more relaxing but doesn't happen often enough for my liking (don't tell them I said that though!) I've got a whole week without them in Summer, thanks to a scout camp so I just need to decide where to go.
I love camping with the kids but it's definitely a different type of holiday and I'm just lucky I can get a bit of both worlds!
