We used to join two sleeping bags together to make a double, but we found when camping in spring and autumn, that sleeping in individual sleeping bags is a lot warmer than a double as there are less gaps for cold air to get in.We still sleep on a double airbed, but we have found not only are we both warmer, but we do tend not to disturb each other as much also. Two k/s sleeping bags can easily be joined into a double, should you want to use them that way,but give the extra flexibilty to be used seperately, and,we have found them a lot warmer than a purpose made double bag.

I wish you could get a king-size sleeping bag though - there isn't really enough room.

I've got 2 and they weren't that hard to find. Mine are by Sunncamp and dirt cheap in an endof season sale. I think the pair came to less than £30 and they're very warm.
I found the main problem with double sleeping bags was the huge gaps that let chill air in
most recently we've slept in single bags, on single airbeds/campcots, mainly in seperate tents, mostly in different counties, often in different countries
------------- Still trying to get the packing right.

I have double sleeping bag & sim because of the dog who likes to sleep with mummy - and Alice sometimes comes in with me, and I often add extra blankets to compensate for the warmth loss in the gap created.
What's more I wouldn't worry about what people think, it is your comfort that matters. Anyway the sleeping compartment police are not going to come and check that all married couples are sleeping in the same bed.

We have twin SIMs and king size duvet. Throw the 3yo into the mix who sleeps with us on another SIM to the side and under the duvet. Works fine for us. Now on the other hand when we're in a static caravan my poor (v tall) OH goes in the twin room with my 8 yo whilst me and the little one share the double room! Double bed in a caravan never large enough for the 3 of us!
we sleep separately - we open the double sleeping pod into one and both have one of those large Intex double height airbeds and a sleeping bag each.
We sleep far better this way! Did try a double airbed once and if either of us moved or got up from it the other person felt like they were being bounced off!
