A mixed year for us went away to North Wales jubilee week and had a total washout came home and straight away booked 2 weeks in Majorca for next spring bank holiday fed up putting my family through the great British weather, then we had a lovely week away the start of August then another lovely long weekend at the start of Sept, we've decided our main camping holidays will be 2 weeks in the South of France from now on and we'll pick and choose our UK get aways depending on the weather. Playing board games in a tent whilst it's raining isn't my idea of fun might be for some but we are an active family.

Loved camping this year.. our first year camping together and we've managed to buy two tents, a trailer and far too much stuff to take with us.

So looking forward to 2013 camping, only managed one trip in our new tent so keen to get it out again. Most of all looking forward to the first of two honeymoons for me and my hubby to be in June! We've agreed to do one camping week after we get wed and then plan a proper honeymoon later in the year :-)

Returned to camping after 10 years and introduced the kids to it (6&4).

Managed 3 weeks (1 jubilee, 2 in the 6 week hols)

Jubilee was constant torrential rain and gales. Did get tedious in honesty but didn't put us off. We loved the tent part. Being constantly damp and doing the beach in a monsoon because we were so fed up of being stuck in wasn't great.

Last 2 weeks of August was very changeable. Cool and quite damp is best described. But we again loved the tent. Kids loved getting outside as despite changeable weather it didn't rain nonstop.

On both trips we were so very lucky to pack up a dry tent.

We booked 2013 before we left as well.

The weather is the weather if you're in a tent, caravan, cottage, hotel. We love living in our tent but would REALLY like to see what sunny camping is like!

Haven't got away as much as I would have liked, but have loved every minute of camping this year. Already booked a fortnight for next year and a few more trips on the cards too.

Not finished yet but had so experiences this year which have put us to the test ...ie weather and wind ...so hopefully next year it will be better and not rain nearly everytime we go Ha

Just incase we have book a couple of weeks in Rhodes for spetember 2013 and then if it does rain again next year we can get a nice tan instead of the rust we have now

...While my tents gently weep...

Haven't been camping at all this year. Not once. We had family health issues to deal with, which have meant lots of zooming up and down between the Severn Valley and Merseyside - and I mean lots. Have been spending one week in three away from home for most of the spring/summer and trying to catch up on work, the house and other commitments in the rest of the time. It hasn't left much space to get on the road with the tent.

We had a couple of weeks in a static in Cornwall, but that's not really camping. I need the canvas...

Life is just starting to get back on an even keel and life is calming down for us, just as the autumn comes on and the colder nights arrive! Might manage an overnighter in October, but otherwise that's it for us this year. Is gutted...

Yes! Went camping 4 times in my big, new, tent. Thinking of getting hook-up to extend the camping season, have never used it before.....so many things to learn about!!

This has been our first year for camping. We've been away 5 times, and ive loved practically every minute of it. We have met some lovely friendly people and some very rude and disrespectful folk, but i wouldnt have changed anything. Ive got the bug -big time. I would have been away more, but my father is really poorly, and we do need to spend time at home, going to hospital appointments, etc. Planning lots of trips away, next year and even considering going abroad, with 2 dogs!. I used to look at blogs for sewing, knitting etc, now i look for camping and seaside blogs- and this one of course

My friends go to France regularly, whippetlover, and take their 3 lurchers. One is a beddy x whippet, the other 2 are huge deerhound x's.

The only thing you have to be careful of is getting the timing right for the pet passports. Mind you, they usually go via Eurostar, so don't have to leave the dogs in the car on a long ferry crossing. Not sure how that would work out.

Hi Fran- France does look very tempting - some of the beaches look amazing. It is alot to plan for a novice camper like myself, we may consider doing it without the dogs for a first attempt, not sure yet.
Pet passports I know you need but havent looked into yet. To be fair id be passed myself if one of them went missing in this country, never mind abroad!, just thinking about it now, is bringing me out in a sweat.

Again, didn't get away as often as I'd hoped this year, but still managed five beautiful days in Galloway in May, then three nights at Rynys, and more recently a couple of nights in the Peak District at Barn Farm. All these were in the smaller Peakland tent, not the Vango, which is disappointing; I really need to get that out and about in the spring!
