May I say you've either chosen the right or wrong people here asking that particular question, as many campers (see above replies) have more than one tent - 11 !!??

We only have one tent - but my kids have their own for their own trips - they're not taking ours!!  I would actually like a week-end tent - but as OH quite rightly (did I say that...nooooo) says it does only take 15-20 minutes to put it up without side extension - so I do see his point - but...I would still like a smaller tent for quick getaway week-ends - it just seems logical.

Floppy-Poppy, that's exactly my DH's argument too! The Corvus takes us about an hour to pitch, including the bedrooms and porch. A weekend tent would probably take half that time. So DH's argument is that we'd be forking out £200 for something which in effect is going to save us 30 mins.

But I just don't see us taking something so huge away for a spontaneous weekend!!!!

I did have 11, bought over the years, not now and I know some folk on here have more than that. Some we bought and they were mistakes. The Pyramide I liked but not the lack of usable space, so sold it. The small Cabanon Calais was just that....too small. The tt has to go now...too hard for us. A couple of nylon tents....kept trying to like them but it's no good...we hate them. The rest we use for us and my daughter and grandchildren.
Depends where we go and for how long which one we take.

We have the Corvus 5+2 I would never consider using it as a weekend tent let alone the 6+2.

The corvus is used for our long term camping and a Vango Calisto 600 for weekends, I would look over the winter period, I managed to get the 2012 Calisto for £135 inc postage in January, may help the OH swallowing that bitter pill.

Vango Calisto looks just the ticket, youlbury - do you mind me asking where you got one at that price?

It was at simply hike however that deal has long gone, it's worth keeping an eye out at the end of the season.

I would buy the porch too it provides loads of space.

2 tents? It's very normal for me,as both a social camper and a solo camper.

Not always the way around you might expect, although if backpacking to a pub some 20 miles away and meeting friends I will of course take the lightweight 2-man (funnily even on foot I always seem to arrive first, ahead of the car campers and motorhome owner) - but even if driving there the backpacking tent will get used as it's quick and simple to sling up, have some bevvies and then crawl back into.

If I'm heading off for a weekend walking in the lakes or highlands, then the Stratus 3-man tunnel will be used even if it's just me going solo - after a long day walking I need a double airbed to lounge out on, and (especially in Scotland) a porch to eat dinner in away from flying nibbly beasties

Another one here with eleven tents. All shapes and sizes for every purpose you could come up with. Some old, some relatively new. Some more useful than others. But every one loved.

That's a shame...work on the oh and save a little you will get a good tent for weekends.

If you are used to steel poles keep to it, the corvus is one of the heaviest tents out there a good weekender will weigh half the amount or less.
