our force ten is 18 years old and and just done a very wet bank holiday weekend in the south lakes .constant rain and not a drop of water leaked in and no condensation issues what so ever.                         frogs post has got me thinking?? what could I buy for 3 hundred pound that would last as long and look as good and preform like it says on the label .even after years of use .in my honest opinion I don't think there is anything out there that can stand the test of time like these do ..thanks you for posting the pics of the old canvass tents they are lovely .we have a few similar ....

You couldn't find anything. The Force 10 was and still is one of the best tents money can buy. There are definitely more technical tents these days made by companies such as Hilleberg and Terra Nova but they still have polyester fly sheets that will not outlive cotton. IMO.
The Force ten is hardly a back packing tent as it's too heavy but for a car camping tent that's not too big it's a true classic.

If you think those cars are small, you should see what we used to pack Mom, Dad, 3 kids and all our equipment for 3 weeks in Italy in 1959! We didn't have a roof box but did have a roof rack though.

Don't seem to be able to post the link - perhaps somebody could help?
