I like to pitch near the sea. I love sitting inside at sunset and feeling the temperature drop, knowing I will soon be getting all cosy warm in bed, breathing that fresh air, and nodding off to the sound of the waves. Also like a little breeze as the tent poles creak ever so slightly. Also love the pitter patter sound of rain during the night.
Cotton canvas all the way..........
------------- MAY 2017 - Loch Ken, Scotland
JUNE 2017 - Sango Sands, Durness, Scotland
AUGUST 2017 - Balloch O Dee, Galloway and Invergarry
SEPTEMBER 2017 - three brief trips
OCTOBER 2017 - hopefully one final trip before Halloween
I love the freedom from routine/housework and busyness of life. That my children can play safely outdoors and are part of a little community for a week. Lovely 😍
Unlike our house, which we rent, our tent is OURS and we have all the optional extras making it versatile depending on how long we are staying. I dread putting it away after a trip and dread the day it needs replacing.
I like how once I get my tent up in a French campsite there is a corner of a foreign field that is forever England, it become home if only for one night, a place I can belong.
The smell, the colours, the carpet, the soft furnishings, the homely touches, the almost silent whirr of the coolbox - but mainly the view! Beautiful children inwards or an adventure waiting outside your doorstep (zip!)
