Tinhouse, admire your initiative in all this but as a confirmed camping wuss "I'm out" for ANY kind of winter camping, but wish you masses of good luck and enjoyment and look forward to your updates xx
I think what you are doing is amazing, what a experience for your family, but how is it cheaper than renting a house I am confused it costs me £106 per week with ehu and if you are living there all over winter isnt that making it a residental camp and wouldnt council charges rear its ugly head if not then maybe more of us would do it I would love to do it but I think I would choose a motorhome but good luck please keep posting pics and updates I am loving reading it

Our rent was 850 a month plus council tax 180 plus gas/elec 200 plus house insurance etc etc .. Now We pay 105 a week ehu and 135 a month to store all our furniture.. So only 555 roughly a month. The council couldn't house us, they said a 3yr wait, I told them what I was doing and they said it sounded great, just a long holiday really! My kids schools know and are happy the Kids are ok. I originally thought caravan but my hubs had already spent money on the bell tent and stove so I decided to make him live in it haha!! We are between houses as we are waiting for our next rented house to be vacated by the owners who are doing up their own house. The site we are on are open all year but if we had to move on we would. I'm slightly worried that my posts might become boring as it's the usual routine of sleeping, eating, school, work, with added extras like chemical loo and bucket baths!

Yes, it is, thank you.
On that particular occasion, there were nights when it got down to MINUS 25 degrees!
Great fun!

Last year we had the warmest winter ever!! So annoying! But maybe we will have snow this year, we usually do. So far my photos just seem to be of a bell tent in the rain :D
How do I upload photos on an iPad Air? I only can put 3 in the gallery. Any advice please 😬
good luck to you i do hope you update your pics and "blog" maybe once a week or something I have just started camping this year and love it but I never really thought of winter camping but might next year for a week or two
Re: Posting pictures. I use photobucket, but the easiest way is if you have a facebook account just copy photo in one of your albums, then go to the little mountain icon on here and click on it then paste in the box. Geoff
It depends what browser you are using as to exactly how you 'copy and paste'. When I was using I.E I am sure I just used to right click on the photo, then click 'copy' then simply paste it onto the reply page in here. I was then able to resize it before sending.
Now that I am using Firefox that doesn't seem to work. I have to right click on the photo and select 'copy image location'. I then open the reply page, click on the 'mountain icon' and paste the address into the box. The photo doesn't appear in the reply window at that stage, just the HTML coding for the address of the photo, but when I send the reply page the photo mysteriously appears in the message on the message board.
This can be a bit of a pain sometimes because there is no way of resizing the photo and sometimes it stretches the page too much.
