Your posts have made me really think about what i have become afraid of, if indeed anything. Thanks for the prompt to make me think abut what i was afraid of. I think what is really bothering me is feeling self conscious. Camping is for so many including me, a social activity, and most people camp in families and groups.Having had my son with me, meant i did not do it alone and kids just join in with others, and can be great ice breakers. Singles i had often thought, stand out like sore thumbs. So to the lady who offered to let me join her, and the many links inc to the C&CC, i will try them all. Camping is a broad church and always has been...and my attitude is usually 'just do it'. I will apply it to this too....dorothy

I prefer sites where there is an owner or manager in residence, and agree that C&CC sites are excellent in that respect. At a pub site at Ford (West Sussex) the lovely owner came and made sure I was ok last thing and first thing and gave me her personal mobile in case of problems in the night.

I've always found it enjoyable and very relaxing, being able to do just what I please, when I please. And the vast majority of people are friendly and helpful.
