We have just returned from a campsite nr Robin Hoods Bay and although a nice site it was completely ruined by over crowding and inconsiderate people.
I do like that part of the country but won't be returning to the site in future.

Wow - what kind of campsites are you lot visiting?? We camp most bank holidays & for the May Day bank holiday we were only disturbed by the hammering rain & the birds! Pick your campsite well & you'll be fine.

Nearly all our campsites have been chosen from the forum over the years, and that's twice in the last year we've had the same problem, people drunk and shouting well after midnight.
Won't put us off though!!

Yes Gaz all our sites were well commended by reviewers on here too.

This timewe only went for a short break to test our tent we had no intention of staying over the bank holiday, due to all of the above horror stories but could only fit in 4 nights last week.

We usually camp outside of school hols, but if we are away for 10days you can't help but do a weekend, and that is when the sites get invaded by the weekenders (good and bad)and then it all returns to normal when they all disappear again.

The only time it didn't happen was on an adults only site with no single sex parties allowed lol.

I really feel for all those considerate campers who have to camp in the school hols

To be honest apart from a group of gobby D of E participants at Coopers in Edale last year we usually do OK. This is the first time that it has been that bad, I do feel the owners of the site do need to take some responsibility as the place was packed to the rafters, with tents very close together.
