Cooooo.... someone might be interested in this.... kept me amused for ages lol! I went to Google images and put in "bucket with lid". How sad is that..... I think I ought to get out more!
when we went camping last summer I'd just been to B&Q and bought one of their bright orange buckets for 99p. We rinsed and cleaned it out every morning (only used it overnight) and left it round the back of tent out of sight during the day. We didnt have a lid for it but I suppose you could put some kind of lid over the top at night - a bit of plastic sheeting or something
It worked for us as we have 3 young children and I wasnt going to keep getting up to take them to the loo block.
The only problem was at the end of the holiday my OH gave it to me and I had to sit with it on my knee all the way home! Looking back, for 99p, I should have just ditched it! LOL
I think, from what i've read, you can buy just the seat (to fit any 5 galon bucket) or the seat and bucket which i think retails for £19.99. (Don't know how much the seat and lid cost). Hubby has just agreed to at least have a look at it. If Camperlands have them i will have to go and have a look.
not only have i seen some wild looking tents campers etc that people will use to get away, this as to be one of the wildest looking things i've seen to date cant help but wonder the size of the toilet tent needed to give some privacy
Wow, hadn't thought about this. Going on my first camping trip in august, have been buying all the stuff i thought we would need, did not think about a bucket. being a lady of a certain age (well not that old), with hubby and 2 teenagers, a bucket with lid should be on the top of my list.
I am addicted to this site and have not even camped yet.
I've been working on getting my OH to come around to the idea of a bucket with lid, but didn't want to fork out £20 for a luggable loo.
Finally managed to persuade her when we made a visit to Camperlands and found a Fire bucket with lid for £5......removed the FIRE stickers (else someone would have really had a surprise if using it for putting one out!) and voila, emergency no1 bucket with lid! Great!
you can get a luggable loo from towsure.www.ukcampsite.co.uk/redirect.asp?redir=http://www.towsure.com it is 19.99 but i find a normal bucket does the job just as well.once you have carried across the field for the first time you soon realise others are doing it too and it s not so embarrasing.
