Thanks Rachel - its really good to hear first experiences as it gives me some tips!! I'd love to practice putting it up at home but the garden is so small, I'd probably be over the neighbours garden...lol! Lots of people have been recommending getting stuff from the pound shop, so I thought I'd get all of my food containers from there.

I am now reading about the electric cables as it didn't even occur to me if I want to bring anything electric. Has anyone got any good sites or stores they could recommend to get a reasonably priced one. The cheapest 3-plug point one I have found so far is £54.99.

All in all, I am really glad we decided on camping. I've been ill for a long time so haven't been able to go abroad and as I had to give up work we had to tighten our purse strings, but its turned out to be so inexpensive and looks like we can visit some really great places. I've been saying for years that I want to visit more places in the UK and having the little one, it will be a great experience for him too. Always remember holidays when I was little, staying on caravan sites, had great fun.

Thanks again!

Diane

Oh, I must have posted at the same time. We looked at lots of sites in the recommended sites section but were a bit overwhelmed as there were so many in the New Forest. My cousin has just come back from camping in the New Forest so I am waiting to hear how it was and where she went. I'll post when I hear...

hi dianne let us know how your cousin got on and any recomended camp sites in the new forest.

tescos is really good too for pans, cutlery, plates, anything really. I brought all my smaller items there especially cooking items and it really worked out cheap.

I have just come back from our first camping trip and loved it. I did not think i would cos i love my home comforts but it was great and i cant wait to go again next weekend!

We were going to buy a ehu lead but as they are quite pricey we thought we would try it without one and we did not want for anything. The power pack from Lidls (£14.99) is great as we blew up all the beds with it, charged the mobile and watched 2 dvd films plus my daughter watched 1/2 hr of dora all on one charge!! Again ideal for short breaks and weekends away if the weather is bad or you fancy a snuggle up with a film.

Thanks for the tips Vicky...I'll have a look round Tesco when I go shopping. I need to pop up Lidl's as they had all the camping stuff in a week or so ago and I missed it - hoping they might have some stock left.

Diane
