I think one of the "bods" agreed the pricematch whilst the boss was on hols, when she got back she shat her pants as there was going to be a huge loss on it (you did say it was a bloody brilliant price) so took the easy way out and just cancelled the order. Had she been a bit more canny she could have said the only one left was found to be faulty and they couldnt get another ;) (ok so I was a retail manager for 10yrs and know a few tactics lol)
My advice mate, visit the shops in person, get em to put it up in their carpark or give up camping and buy a caravan LOL
I thought the exact same thing - she admitted to being sick so one of the plebs trying to run the show agreed to the price match with was duly cancelled by the boss on her return - prior of course to her mass deletion of emails !
Not a way to recover a situation and keep a happy customer. Also, its the best way to get your name remembered. There has been a lot of good feedback about the company - but its the horror stories we remember !
Better luck with your next buy - I like Oswald Bailey for all of my stuff - but I know they dont cater for everyone!
We bought a coleman trispace for 149.99 & only used it after 3 weeks & found it to have dodgy zip. They replaced it straight away today no questions asked. They did not even inspect it. (which I was glad about as I had bent a few pegs!!).
------------- Our children don't inherit the earth from us. We borrow it from them.
I ditto that, bought my first family tent from them last year, got it home and upon inspection had a hole in the fly. You could see daylight through it. Went back the following weekend and just had it exchanged.
Apologised for it, got a new one out and away we went. I wouldnt have any issues over buying another tent from them again with service like that.
With all the money and time invested in your new purchase why dont you ring a few places to see who has it in stock, explain what has happened to you in the past and then ask if they would mind putting it up for you there and then ? Its afterall a very expensive piece of kit. If its a bit of a trek why not take a stopover in aswell somewhere ?
Just a thought, if id of gone through all the trouble you have i think that would be my next line of attack. I know some places might not have the room to do so but not all.
The taste of good deal soon can soon taste sour. You know what i mean. I really feel for all your problems though.
I can't fault Norwich camping either. I e-mailed them about the lifting patches on my Montana 6 groundsheet and they have called me today to arrange a new tent to be delivered next week.
Fingers crossed the new one will be fine and will not leak as some have on here!!! I'm starting to panic a little about Outwells quality control!!!
Jeez you have really bad luck mate....I think if you order again you should try world of camping as we have had excellent support from them and its well documented here....also others chirped in to say how much they love world of camping.... It seems your main concern in all of this has been to get the cheapest possible price rather than find a company with excellent customer support....I dont mind paying a little extra to a trusted reatiler over a one im not familiar with...most camping stuff I need from now on will come from there as there service is stellar....
------------- Its not the size of the tent...its how you pitch it..
