When I was a kid, my parents took me on holiday in rented, sited caravans. These early "statics" were mainly Bluebird or Eccles. As I grew up and eventually married and had a family, I followed a similar pattern. In later years, I had my own touring van, and this was probably a natural development. I've had motorhomes, but went back to "lugging" five years ago. It all comes down to personal choice. As far as I'm concerned, whatever outfit is used, be it tent van or motorhome, people are still people; most are outgoing and friendly and a few are unsociable to varying degrees.
In the event of bad weather moving in, tenters usually suffer most. In these circumstances, caravanners can help (getting things dried out for instance). I would not think much of a fellow caravanner who did not give assistance.
Let's face it, we all contribute to keeping campsites viable, and without THEM, none of us would have anywhere to camp anyway.
I love you all! Bertie
