Hi everyone
Just an update on the camping trip. It looks like we will be going at the end of the month. We are going to do a wildlife tour of North Yorkshire and hopefully including harrogate, whitby and wenslydale. Im hoping we will manage the whole month (money permitting) but im sure we will have lots of fun trying. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions. :-D

Good luck Mummybear, and hope you and the children have a good time.  You need some chill time and also some time to think about learning to say 'No'.  Been in your shoes, and it doesnt help when you have so called friends like that, as soon as you need someone, they are no where to be seen.

Shame.

Bet you were looking forward to walking over to the shower blocks and hearing the kids "Are we there yet?"

oh that's such a shame, you must be so disappointed.

I camp without DH for most of the 6 weeks holidays, as he is not keen on camping and can't get the time off anyway. I stay at a site which is very close to home as I can't drive. he drops me off and I manage without him and the car. Is there anyone you could get to give you a lift to a nearby site, and at least have a couple of weeks?

oh no! on top of everything else as well! i feel so bad for you. maybe you could still go away for a weekend somewhere, just to get away. and please talk to someone, the samaritans are always good for listening, and i highly recommend them. you have a lot to get off your chest. they helped me through a period of depression last year, and im sure they'll help you too. cos talking is teh best remedy.

Hi Mummybear,

Sorry to hear you've been through such a rough time, and also sorry to hear that you've had to put the trip on hold.I was going to offer some words of support for your camping trip.I've just been away with my two boys for two whole weeks and had a fab time.It was so nice to get away from everything and just have time to enjoy the scenery and fresh air.I came back feeling totally relaxed and energised(its great for getting fit lol), and actually am having trouble getting to sleep in my own bed, as a pose to on an airbed on a slope in gale force winds!!!!Counting down the days till my next trip.I didn't find it particularly difficult coping with two kids on my own, in fact was easier than at home cus the kids made lots of friends and had lots of open space to run around in.Even if you can't do it right now hope you can mange it another time as it really is a great way to relax.Good luc with everything,

Claire x

p.s. Like the idea of a mums n kids trip, it would be great to have others there in the same boat!
