Not bothered with EHU for 4 years now.

Got a 130 watt solar panel....12vtv that draws only 3 amps per hour....changed all my lights to L.E.D,s and had a battery master fitted.

Now we are completely self sufficient for power...no EHU charges...and a very smug smile indeed.

Paradise by the dashboard light!

We don't use EHU either. We have a 100 watt 6Ah solar panel, permanently charging a 110Ah leisure battery by a lcd readout steca solar regulator/controller  . Everything works from 12volt, Lcd tv, dvd player, radio, cd player boombox that also amps the tv and dvd player. Loads of Led lighting. Cooking is done by petrol stoves a double and 3 singles. the Heater is a parabolic camping gaz type. We can go anywhere and have no worries. I also have another 100watt 6Ah solar panel but i've never had to use both.

I work at a residential School in Seaford so might see if I can pitch it on one of their fields.

That sounds perfect! Are you at the special school on the main road (can't remember whether it's called East Quinton or Cuckmere House - it had a name change a few years ago and I can't remember which is the new name!).

Hi, not it's not Cuckmere House, but another one which is owned by one of the London Borough Councils.

I have never used an EHU.

I am opposed to them for a number of reasons which I won't go into right now but for me the whole essence of camping is being as close to nature as possible, getting away from it all and not insisting on all the mod cons.

Apart from the better pitches (which I had never considered) you get a much fuller sense of satisfaction from the outdoor experience. As far as I'm concerned if I can't do without the creature comforts I'd stay at home or book into a hotel!!
