I have owened a pair of crocs for about 2 years now (realtree being a carper).
They are fantastic for everything (showering, on the beach, going in the sea, etc etc) but the soles of mine are wearing thin and gone very spongy making them very slippery on wet smooth surfaces.

I love my swirly blue Mary Jane style Crocs - they are very comfy and useful in all kinds of situations. I have not found that the soles are slippy, but if my feet are wet inside then they are incredibly slippy and several times I've slipped over because of that. I am now VERY careful with them!!

I heard that the orginal croc company were struggling and maybe going out of business. This is because it takes a pair of crocs a long time to wear out.Too long in fact and people are just not needing to buy a second pair. The exception is my friend who has got a pair in every colour!!

I too think they are great for camping especially when you are showering. In fact mine are hand me downs from my daughter who out grew them. She was one of the few who are buying a second pair!!

I've heard the same rumour, except that the company has gone into liquidation. A client of mine is an accountant working for the liquidators.

Back on thread I HATE CROCS. So much that they are nicknamed smurf shoes as they make you look like a smurf. I also have two pairs as they are great to throw on to go to the loo in the night and don't destroy tent carpets.

Just don't wear them with socks and slippers at home are much more comfortable.

A tent is like a newborn born baby..... to some they all look the same..... but if its yours it's beautiful.

My daughter and I both have mock crocs and lived in them over the weekend. Might even buy myself a proper pair next year.

We've all got mock crocs for camping and love them, so easy to slip on and off as you go in and out the tent, and really practical. Re the slippery when wet, I think it depends what flavour mock crocs you buy, cos mine have a much higher raised dimple bed that son's have for example. I love that real crocs come in all different shapes and colours etc, but find it hard justifying the kind of price charged for plastic shoes, so will stick with mocks when (if?) these wear out.

Bought son (4) a pair of imatation crocs 4 months ago and cannot get him out of them!!

Went camping last month and forgot to take slip on shoes, so whilst out saw a pair of Crocs Off Roads (they have a heel and a more serious tread on the bottom) in the sale.  I have always loathed the sight of Crocs but unfortunately had to succumb...

'fraid to say ABSOLUTELY LUV EM!!

I hated Crocs with a passion, I even told a friend I would never speak to her again if she bought some of those disgusting plastic chavvy things....................

Two years of camping later and I now have three pairs and OH has succumbed as well to a tasteful brown pair!

What has this thing called camping done to me? 17

I've got a mule style pair - bought for £7 - that I wore all summer. My DH got a 'fake pair' for £1 in Poundstretcher! and they've lasted all summer and beyond!

i must admit i have always said crocs are fine on kids (my 4 swear by them on camping trips) but on anyone over 12ish its a definate no no, especially grown men! i think they look ridiculous!

HOWEVER on our last trip to the camping mega store i saw some of these

so i bought myself a pair for our next camipng holiday as its sure to be raining!

strictly for camping though!!

I have these in pink 17 gave me a huge blister on one foot first time i wore them though ,ouch!

My kids have always had crocs (well cheapy versions from matalan etc!)

i don't think they look good on adults though!

but liked the ballerina style ones enough to buy them for a holiday this year

and then when we started camping i gave in, and bought a pair of plain black ones ( not genuine crocs but the skechers ones) ideal for wet grass etc and slipping on and off easily

I didn't wear them off site though 17

I am another one who lives in Crocs.    Although I have had imitation ones, the don't come close to the real thing.    For a wonderful bried period we had a Crocs shop in Liverpool One, but it shut.
Chatting to the staff this was due to it only being on a temporary lease.
