Field Barn Park? Hmm, would appreciate some feedback on that one too!

I'm recently back from there and have done a review. Nice site...or will be when it's finished.

What I really want to do next is buy a VW camper van, paint it with daisys and spend six months or so touring round all the craft festivals. No not the rave-type festivals, craft festivals. Like knitting and wool, you know? But given that DD is still only eight this is not going to happen for a long time. And even then, Hubby will feel he's being left out and want to come along even though he's got zero interest in crafts, sigh.

After splitting up with my OH last April I had my first long weekend alone with the two dogs in my caravan at the end of May, and though initially I'd been dreading it, wondering how I would cope with the technicalities, I loved every minute of it - the freedom to do what I wanted without having to consider someone else, and best of all a tidy caravan and awning! I had another weekend in August, and though the weather wasn't too good I still enjoyed my time alone. This coming weekend I'm booked in at a small site just 45 minutes drive from home, not with my caravan this time but my mpv and awning, and I just can't wait. As someone else previously said, I either go on my own or not at all - and there's no way I'm staying at home!

Every time I book for a solo trip as OH works some weekends, someone always wants to tag along or meetup with me. Its a bit of a compliment I suppose but sometimes I want to go alone so I can read a book or just be myself with my dogs.

It was lovely Merry. I only stayed two nights, but the owner was very friendly, the facilities were immaculate, and the pitches were large with a water tap to every two pitches.

They've planted little trees and bushes between pitches, so in time each pitch will have a lot more privacy. They've also planted 'elephant grass' as dividers - never seen that stuff before   The only drawback is that there isn't really a 'view' - you can only see the campsite & a field behind. There is a wonderful far reaching view from the lane, but the campsite is down a long drive into a bit of a valley.

I pitched the Robens tent on Tuesday night, then packed that one away on Wednesday morning & pitched the Raclet QT. I've decided that I'm getting a bit too long in the tooth for a low dome tent now. First time I've used the Raclet, and I'm very, very pleased with it. As it's got the SIG, I left the inner tent out & had loads of extra living space.

One thing to note if you decide to try this campsite Merry, take plenty of rock pegs with you and a claw hammer to remove them   Lukily I had plenty of rock pegs with me, but..... no claw hammer. I found one peg just didn't want to leave the site, and all I had with me was the peg-puller and a pair of pincers - I ended up using both together to remove the little blighter - must have spent 15 minutes removing that one peg

I'd checked two weather forecasts on Monday night, and both looked good until Friday evening. However, the rain came early, about 11am yesterday morning, and looked to be set in for the day, so I ended up taking a soggy canvas tent down & stuffing it in two dustbin bags to bring it home. Ah well, it means I can pitch it again now on the lawn to dry it out

Oh I know what you mean - I don't mind the kids as they can be easily bribed with treats - but like your hubby, Richard would want to come.   Then he would stand their as I am browsing stalls and displays with a face like a wet week.

OH and as for the VW Camper - when ever I say I want one he moans that it iisn't big enough.   He just doesn't get the "hippy in me" bit.

Maybe we could meet up, and send the men to a child friendly pub with the kids.

Just got to win the lottery to be able to afford my camper,
