I like 'getting away from it all'

No telly, no house phone, no internet, no daily grind

I like:

  • Sleeping like a log, I never sleep well at home
  • Boiling a kettle on the stove
  • Sitting and drinking a cuppa and watching the world go by
  • Sitting round the campfire at night chatting
  • Not having any plans
  • Being outside for pretty much the whole day/evening
  • I even like the rain better when I am camping

Its just ahhhhhhh lovely

I am the exact same...there is just something about waiting for your kettle to boil on the stove...whilst sitting and watching the world go by.
I like sitting out at night when its pitch black and looking up at the stars (until the bats start flying round my head then im zipped firmly inside my tent lol)
My daughter never goes in mud at home and isnt allowed to get too filthy but there was something strangely nice about seeing her jumping in the mud and getting really messy on our last trip - where it rained and turned kids play area into a swamp - it was quite funny watching 6 or 7 kids get filthy then their parents comin out of the tents and saying OH MY GOD WHAT HAVE U BEEN DOING!! lol

I just love the freedom, we eat when we are hungry and sleep when we are tired! You just can't beat waking up to the sound of a whistling kettle and the dawn chorus. I love sound of the zips and the smell of tents, the stars, I could go on and on! (I often do to my workmates who just don't get it!)  My OH had never camped until he met me 2 years ago and now he is totaly hooked.I don't know what I would have done if he didn't enjoy it.! He probably wouldn't be my OH !!!

I camped as a kid with scouts like many others Bala lake the favourite of our troop. Always loved camping myself but my wife is terrified of bugs and creepy crawlies! I thought i`d never get her away, now after a few trips this year were all hooked loads of trips planned you just can`t beat it kids (7 & 3) have never been happier!
As for why camping well i just love the freedom do what we want when we want any time. birds singing in the morning, rain battering the tent, the 6 am shower & most of all we all spend time together which is priceless.
