Let's face it, we could all take everything we could ever need on a camping trip as long as your vehicle happens to be a ford transit...We take what we can fit in the car and if our son comes along we take even less...

This should keep the fellas occupied for days in their garden sheds...A solar powered home made fridge based on the centuries old evaporation principle.
How easy is that??? I wonder how well it works tho? The very early VW campers had an evaporation type fridge in them. I'm now thinking about something along the lines of a (new) waste paper bin, holes in the sides & something that will fit inside with a damp towel wrapped round it. I wonder if a plastic inner container would work as well??
I will keep you all posted.
We took our's this last week in scotland , and yes it is a must the bacon will go off and the butter will melt it is going to be a hot one this next week.
We've never used one either, in 10 years camping in the South of France. We use UHT milk, mainly what you get there, no butter/marge, shop for 2 days salads, veg etc, fresh meat the first day, tinned the second. The worst thing to keep there is bread, but we buy it every day. Just protect food from the sun, behind a car wheel often works.
im a first time camper but decided to purchase the outwell green one for £40, i am a single mum to my 9 yr old daughter and my son age 6 has high functioning autism and it would be a pain having to pop out all the time, so for convienece i have decided to opt for one for peace of mind. think it depends on each persons situations. I would need EHU as the ds would have to be on charge every day as it keeps him carm when he has his bad times.
