In the same way as a non ehu person would cope without batteries, gas & solar I expect?
I'm very much a non-EHU camper and have just come back from my first camp of the year. None of those things you mention were used. Light and cooking from fire and the tent/sleeping gear has never needed batteries yet... I do have a small candle lantern though.
In terms of recharging gadgets; not quite getting that either. I do have a mobile which stays switched off when I'm out in the tent - if someone wants to ring me; they can't... just like the good old days. A turned off phone lasts quite a while but is there should an urgent need arise...
