My lakeland terriers are very reactive at home and will bark at the slightest thing. Camping, they are completely different - very chilled.

They're nosy, so would hate being behind windbreaks, and just lie or sit on their tethers watching the world go by. The only time they bark is if a child rides a bike too close (they've both been traumatised by mountain bikers on the downs) or a game of football or frisbee is going on nearby (they want to join in).

The other thing I do is take a folding crate to go in the tent. Both are scared of thunder and fireworks and go crazy, so it gives somewhere safe to put them, and it means we don't have to restrain them from wriggling under the door if it's too wet to sit outside.

At night they come in the sleeping pod with us and are fine with that. They're often so tired at the end of a busy day that they take themselves off to bed early and crash out.  Then we have to dislodge them to get into our sleeping bags!

I'm sure Abbie will love it.

I too have a dog called Bailey he's a Choc lab and a black lab called diesal diesal is an angel camping but doesn't like other dogs Bailey is a big daft nutter who tries to get under the windbreaks to escape so he has to be tethered and then he just cries but we will keep persevering with him . The worst part for us is setting up and packing away we tie him up and he just barks the whole time.
